Finishing is a professional term for performing the final physical changes to a document
once the print work is done. Things like binding, laminating, 3 hole punching, Stapling, etc.. would all be considered finishing activities.

Comb Binding
Comb binding is very efficient for mass produced books, such as textbooks, manuals, etc. A comb binder is a plastic ream that
is inserted into small holes punched in the side of the paper. The comb itself can be removed to add or update the document. If the
book grows too large for the current comb, a larger one can be inserted allowing easy expansion.
Steel Binding
For Steel Binding we take a set of papers, and slip them into a special sleeve. The sleeve has a metal spine, with a resin glued surface.
We take your documents, slip them into the sleeve, slip the sleeve in the warming unit and in 3 minutes, the pages are glued
to the metal spine. The sleeve has a clear front and back plastic cover. This gives a very professional
look to any document, and a nice stiff spine.
Book Binding
Book Binding is similar to the Steel Binding listed above. The primary difference is in Book Binding the front and back covers are
hard-bound book stock. A few examples of hardback books we have created are
yearbooks, coffee table book, or professional photo books. PostalAnnex@Nordahl

Laminating
Laminating is a process where a page is slipped into a 2 sided clear cover. The page is then heated binding the clear cover
to both sides of the paper. Laminating is very good for documents you would like to write on in a grease pen to wipe off
later, or just preserve from getting wet or dirty.
Stapling
The good old reliable staple, perhaps one of the most used finishing techniques. Staples can be used in the corner of a set
of documents, along one spine of a document for a book like binding, or if the documents are folded in half in the crease of the fold. Small booklets will often have 2 staples
through the spine at the fold.
3 Hole Punch
Need to take a document and place it in a 3 ring binder? No problem we sell the 3 ring binders in a variety of colors and can 3 hole
punch your job so its ready to go.
Glue
Gluing pages together goes back to before the middle ages. We can glue the edge of your documents so you can create notebooks, coupon
books, flyers, speciality items or anything else you can think of. Gluing does take more time than any of the other finishing techniques do be sure to ask for more
details when you call.
Paper Cutting
When creating flyers, hand outs, and short forms cutting your paper in half so you get 2 forms per page can maximize your
printing dollars. With our industrial strength paper cutter, we can make quick work of your cutting needs.
Scanning
Often a document does not need to be bound, but does need to be scanned for distribution on CD's or DVD's. PostalAnnex@Nordahl
is happy to offer scanning services for almost any document.
